First Lady Dr. E. Jean McMurray

is the graceful First Lady of the Renaissance Church Of God In Christ in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Together, she and her husband, Senior Pastor, Bishop Dennis J. McMurray, founded the Renaissance Church on August 22, 1992. Today, the Renaissance Congregation is a progressive 21st century ministry that is meeting the needs of people locally, nationally, and internationally through technology and numerous media outlets. Her Leadership abilities are exhibited through-out Renaissance as the Executive Director of Women’s Ministry, Ministry Strategic Planning and Ecumenical Development. Dr. McMurray teaches the gospel at Renaissance, other churches and in Christian settings. She is a Life Coach and a Mentor. She facilitates seminars; and is a motivational speaker, in schools, workshops, conferences and corporate settings. Dr. McMurray is a sought after and anointed proclaimer of the gospel. Dr. McMurray is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University with an emphasis in Communications-Television and Radio Broadcasting. She is a graduate of the Comer School Improvement Program at Yale University and the National Network of Partnership Schools Leadership Development Program at Johns Hopkins University. After successfully raising their 3 children; she returned to academia and earned a Master’s Degree in Ministry Leadership from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, graduating with honors. In 2014 she was conferred a Doctorate of Divinity from Christian Bible Institute and Seminary of Spring, Texas. In 2007 Dr. McMurray was nominated for the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce ATHENA Award. In 2011, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority honored her as Women of the Year of Grand Rapids. She was honored by the Michigan Department of Human Services as an outstanding Faith Community Leader. Professionally, Dr. McMurray has had a successful corporate career in the areas of Communications, Management, and Sales. She worked for the Grand Rapids Public Schools as a Comer School Improvement Facilitator. She was a Community Representative for the Grand Rapids Department of Human Services and a member of The Great Start Collaborative of Kent County. She is currently the Executive Director of AWAKE, Inc., a federally registered 501©3 Non-Profit. Dr. McMurray is HAPPILY married to the love of her life and college sweetheart; Bishop Dennis J. McMurray. They have 4 children; Parris (Fallon), ChaVon and Auston, of which they have each earned their Bachelor’s Degree.
