AWAKE Incorporated (Advancing Wisdom, Attitude, Knowledge, and Empowerment) is a Faith Based Organization that was founded in 1996 by Dr. Dennis J. and Dr. E. Jean McMurray, and was federally registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit entity in 1997. Its mission is to motivate and empower people to reach their full potential, develop skills for success and assist in making dreams and goals in life a reality. AWAKE began providing services and programs primarily focused on Families and Youth in the areas of Health and Wellness, Tutorial Services, Academic & Enrichment Summer Day Camp (math and reading enrichment program), Career Development, Computer Training, Financial Counseling, Clothing Assistance, Food Pantry, and Senior Citizen Enrichment.

In January of 2000 the office of AWAKE relocated to 1024 Burnside S.E. in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The number of program participants also increased and additional programs were added in the areas of Performing Arts, Leadership Training, Computer Technology, College Tours, Youth Conferences and College Scholarships.
